My costume drawings remain constant work in progress. They begin with a gesture or expression; the clothing details of silhouette, colour and material become clear once the character’s personality and physicality emerges.

The model is a visual contract; a detailed working tool. The model carries on being a key part of the production process, helping to convey the concept to collaborators and facilitate rehearsals, by giving a clear idea of space and scale.
