Awards and recognitions include
Lalla Roukh for Wexford Opera Festival won the category for Best Costume in the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards 2022, as well as receiving multiple category nominations.
Opera Zuid won the Place d’Opera Dutch Award for Best Production with both Lady In The Dark 2022 and A Quiet Place 2018, as voted for by the public – both designed by Madeleine.
Powder Her Face at the Royal Danish Opera won the 2016 Arets Reumert Award in Denmark for best Opera Production.
Don Giovanni for Opera North, won best Opera production at the Manchester Theatre awards 2012, it was revived again in 2018 by Opera North and joins the 2026/7 season once more.
In 2008, Madeleine was awarded a design fellowship from Independent Opera. Madeleine was a finalist in the 2007 European Opera Directing Prize with team mate Director Alessandro Talevi for their Rusalka concept.
